Comedian Eric Mabedi back from India after successful Kidney transplant

Veteran actor and comedian Eric Mabedi has returned home today from India after a successful kidney transplant at BLK Hospital.

Mabedi, popularly known as Jakobo arrived in the country through Chileka International Airport in the commercial capital Blantyre.

The comedian was welcomed by National Theatre Association of Malawi members and other well-wishers who were shunting songs of praise.

Others were seen carrying placards saluting the government for a swift intervention on the matter.

Mabedi, popularly known as ‘Jakobo’ left the country for India in November with the help from the Ministry of Health and Population.

Government funded the trip to the tune of MK20 million.

The actor underwent a successful kidney transplant on December 8, 2018 and both him and Kidney donor were left to recover.

Mabedi is the director and producer for Kwathu Drama Group. He is also the President of the National Theatre Association of Malawi.

The comedian has been very influential to the Malawian entertainment sector and his acting life dates back to early 1990s.
