A 25-year-old teacher in Mangochi district is in police custody for allegedly defiling his own 14-year-old learner.
The suspect has been identified as Sandress Madando.
The incident occurred from September 2018 during night time within Maloya village.
According to Mr. Shaibu Awali uncle of the victim suspect is a standard 3 teacher whilst the girl is a standard 6 learner at Maloya primary school.
During the month of September 2018, the suspect proposed the victim and he had been defiling her several times until December 2018 when the girl was suspected to be pregnant by her fostering parents since she is an orphan.
On January 8, 2019 the fostering parents took the girl to Chilonga health facility where she was examined and confirmed to be 12 weeks pregnant.
Upon interviewed, the suspect confessed to have defiled the girl and accepted responsibility of the pregnancy.
He is expected to appear before court after completion of paper work.
He hails from village Kantambo in Kambwiri area in Salima.
