UTM postpones primary elections in Salima

United Transformation Movement (UTM) has called off its primary elections in Salima district,faceofmalawi can reveal.

UTM governor for the Salima Langireni Mapulesi confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country.

Mapulesi said that primaries in all five constituencies have been cancelled due to among other reasons the late coming of Jessie Kabwila who wants to contest on a UTM ticket in Salima North West constituency.

“Primaries have been called off. This is partly because of Kabwila who joined the party late. The constituents welcomed her, but she needs to be introduced to the district first,” Mapulesi said.

However, Mapulesi said the party is yet to communicate to them why primaries have also been cancelled in other four constituencies.
