Buleya Lule laid to rest after an autopsy

Buleya Lule, a key suspect in the missing of an albino in Dedza District was laid to rest on Sunday at Mitundu in the capital Lilongwe.

Lule died in police custody last week while facing trial in connection to abduction of a 14 year old albino boy, Goodson Makanjira, in Dedza.

On Saturday, relatives of the deceased were blocked from taking the remains of Lule from Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) following an injunction obtained by Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM).

The injunction was obtained to stop anyone from burying Buleya’s body up until postmortem is conducted to establish the real cause of his death.

The postmortem was conducted on Friday and preliminary results of an autopsy showed that the suspect did not die of natural causes.

According to the report, giled by Jorge Kirk from South Africa, who worked together with local pathologist Charles Dzamalala and Tamiwe Tomika, Buleya who died on Thursday in Police custody, sustained 3 main injuries which caused his death.

This includes a head injury, caused by hitting pressure from a cyclindrical metal rod.

According to the three experts, bleeding in the brain was observed.

A tummy side injury was caused by electrocution and this is singled out as the cause of Buleya’s death.

They add that the cause of Injuries on buttocks is yet to be analysed.

Samples are to be taken to RSA for further analysis.

After two weeks, a final report will be released for action.

DNA samples have been taken for further investigations on suspects who killed him in the police cell.
