Kachali pulls out of Presidential race to support Chakwera

Former Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachale who is also leader of the newly formed Freedom Party (FP) has pulled out of the May 21 tripartite election to support Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President.

This was disclosed a join media briefing between MCP and FP held in the commercial capital Blantyre ahead of the presentation of nomination papers.

Speaking during the briefing Kachali said his party shares ideologies with the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) hence forming a coalition ahead of the polls.

He said his party on behalf of Malawians, subscribes to the assertion that Chakwera leads the country.

Kachali said Malawi’s needs can only be delivered by Chakwera and Mia.
