Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Independent President Ras Chikomeni David Chirwa is yet to raise the required K2 million nomination fees to pay to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), contrary to social media reports.
On Thursday the social media was awash with a photo showing Ras Chikomeni in Bank paying the said cash.
Speaking in an interview with the press, Chikomen said he is yet to raise the money and he also rejected the Cheques circulating on social media showing that well-wishers have bailed him out describing them as fake.
But the independent presidential aspirant that he is ready to present his nomination papers today if any well-wishers bail him out.
On Wednesday MEC refused to accept Ras Chikomeni’s nomination papers on grounds that he failed to pay nomination papers.
Apart from that, Ras Chikomen failed to have 10 nominations per district from 19 districts.
Meanwhile MEC gave Chikomeni 48 hours which expires today to fulfill all the requirements.
