Project officer of Centre for Social Concern Tobias Jere made the call during a meeting to discuss the role of religious leaders on promotion of peace for the forthcoming tripartite elections to be free, fair and credible.

Jere said the meeting was very crucial as they discussed ways to ensure peace and unity during the electoral process.

He denounced political violence saying it can lead to voter apathy.

In their remarks chairperson of Muslim Association of Malawi in Mangochi Sheikh Fahad Kamsuli and chair of Local Advisory Committee Bishop Peter Likagwa said they will hold discussions with traditional and political leaders on ways to end political intimidation.
