Father Mangwiyo who died in road accident laid to rest

Thousands of Malawians on Tuesday gathered at Limbe Cathedral to bid farewell to the departed Reverend Father Felix Mangwiyo of the Archdiocese of Blantyre.

Father Mangwiyo together with three other passengers died on Saturday after a minibus they were travelling in collided with a 30 tonner truck along Chiradzulu-Phalombe Road.

The accident left 16 people seriously injured and were rushed to Chiradzulu District Hospital for medical treatment.

The burial of father Mangwiyo took place on Tuesday at Limbe Cathedral and the funeral mass was led by Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa.

In his eulogy, Msusa said the church has lost a well dedicated priest who joined the Priesthood last year in July.

Msusa said the church especially the Diocese of Blantyre will forever miss the services of the departed priest.

Father Mangwiyo hails from Mtenje Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre. He was ordained as a priest in July 2018.

He was posted to Masanjala Parish in Chiradzulu where he served for 8 months as priest.
