Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Lilongwe

Two Nigerian nationals and a Ghanaian national have been arrested by the Department of Immigration in Lilongwe for illegal entering the country and acquiring Malawian passport.

Ealack Banda, Central Region Immigration Publicists’ confirmed the development, and the two are identified as Promise Opara and Chikaodovi Owo.

The department has also arrested a Ghanaian national, Joseph Zachariah for trying to acquire a Malawian Passport.

Zachariah was arrested at the Regional Immigration Office in Lilongwe when he was waiting to renew his old Malawian Passport.

Meanwhile the two Nigerians have been fined to pay K150, 000 or serve one month in prison and thereafter, be deported.

Zachariah has been fined to pay K200, 000 or in default serve six months in prison and thereafter, be deported.
