Police in Mangochi have arrested a 38-year-old husband for forcing his wife to sell his 14-year-old albino son.
National police spokesperson, James Kadadzera has identified the suspect as Nick Adams who hails from Nomari Village, Traditional Authority Jalasi in Mangochi.
According to Kadadzera, the suspect has for so long been forcing his wife, Vanessa Manyowa to sell the boy but the wife had been refusing.
“After continued pestering from the husband, the wife decided to take the child to relatives in Lilongwe who later reported the matter to police,” said Kadadzera.
Meanwhile, police say they are investigating the matter which includes quizzing the suspect to reveal where he intended to sell the albino boy.
About 24 people with albinism have so far been killed since 2014 and scores are missing, according to records.
