Kasungu police station is keeping in custody a 36 year old man, Goodson Chibwe for defiling a 14 year old girl.

Chibwe is suspected to have committed the offence on April 9, 2019, at Boyole Village in the area of Sub Traditional Authority (T/A) Mphomwa.

According to Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer, Harry Namwaza, the victim went to fetch firewood and, on her way back, she met the suspect who was coming from a drinking joint.

The suspect upon seeing the victim allegedly, dragged her into a nearby bush where he defiled her.

“It is alleged that some of her friends saw the suspect dragging her into the bush and rushed to inform elders but when they arrived on the scene, the suspect had already defiled the victim,” he said.

According to Namwaza, the matter was reported to Chulu Police Unit where the victim was issued with a police report to go to the hospital for medical examination, which confirmed the defilement.

The results will be tendered as evidence when the suspect appears before court to answer the charge of defilement.

Goodson Chibwe comes from Tchawale Village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Dzoole in Dowa district.
