The finals for K200, 000 Mathews Machila Bonanza has been slated for April 19 at Makalani ground which will see the champions pocketing K50, 000.

Speaking in an interview, aspirant councilor (MCP) for Naotcha ward Mathews Machila has said the aim of the Bonanza is to empower the youths and to keep them busy so that they should not indulge in immoral behavior like chamba smoking, beer drinking, womanizing  and also to stop early marriages.

“As aspirant councilor of Naotcha ward I want to empower the youths and expose their talent through sports. Another objective is to identify the best players who can play in top league and even playing at national level,” he said.

He thanked Aspirant parliamentarian for Blantyre City South Constituency Moses Nkukuyu for his financial support for the Bonanza.

The champions will receive K50, 000 plus a trophy while the runners-up will take home K30, 000. The ten participating teams which will not in top eight will pocket K5, 000 each and K10, 000 for six teams which will be on top 8.

Machila also said apart from K200, 000, he also provide balls to participating teams and he will pay money for the referees.

He therefore urged people in the ward to vote for him in this forth coming may tripartite elections for more development.

He obtained his MSCE certificate at Namitete secondary school in 2009. Then enrolled at Skyway University where he got his journalism ABMA certificate. He obtained ABMA Diploma in journalism in 2014 at Blantyre Institute of Management (BIM). His hobbies are singing, reading books and traveling.
