Mangochi farmer shot dead by unknown thugs

Unknown thugs in Mangochi on Sunday night shot dead a farmer at his house in area of village headman Mgawo, Traditional Authority Bwananyambi.

Police officials confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceomalawi reporter and identified the deceased as Ishmael Aradi aged 48.

The wife to the deceased told the police that the unknown assailants shot the deceased around 7pm as the two were charting on the veranda.

“Facts are that the deceased was a local farmer and on the material date and time the deceased and his family were charting at the Veranda of his house after taking supper. Later came two people who stood on the earth road that passes near the deceased ‘s house and called the deceased where by those criminals asked the deceased if he have seen any person passing by the road before them.

“Before the deceased responded to them, one criminal produced a rifle which he shot in the air and the deceased tried to run away into his house, but the criminals followed him and he shot him twice on the right thigh and he fell down on the sitting room of his house where he lost a lot of blood and died on the spot. The criminals went away with a 100 watts solar panel valued at K80,000.00,” reads in part the police report.

Postmortem conducted by the medical officer from Mkumba Health Center revealed that death was due to excessive loss of blood secondary to gun shot wounds.
