Zambia Man Killed over car side mirror

A 30 year old man identified as Darrik Simwase has died after being set ablaze with petrol for stealing a motor vehicle side mirror.

And Police have detained the vehicle owner for allegedly identified as Richard Maluti aged 38 years old.

Meanwhile deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said investigating the circumstances surrounding the setting ablaze and subsequent death of Simwase.

Hamoonga said before meeting his fate, Simwase was earlier admitted in the UTH from 07:30 to 13:30.

He stated that the deceased had been accused of stealing a side mirror of a Madza Vehicle registration AJD 4997 a property of Richard Maluti (suspect).

Hamoonga said the alleged theft occurred on Sunday around 06:30 hours at the residence of Mr Maluti who later drove to the Clan’s nite Club where the deceased was reported to have been and set him ablaze after pouring him with petrol.

And Hamoonga has reiterated his warning to members of the public to desist from from taking the law in their own hands.
