Police have arrested a 22 year old man for being found in possession of Indian hemp in Kasungu District.

According to Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Harry Namwaza, the suspect is identified as Peter Walasi.

According to Namwaza, the suspect had Indian hemp as they were searching a minibus which he boarded.

“Police had mounted a snap roadblock at Ntchalachala opposite Kasungu Stadium and as the officers were searching a minibus registration number MN 6375, they found out that the two laptop bags belonging to the suspect were full of hemp and he was arrested immediately,” he said.

Peter Walasi comes from Makalani Village in Traditional Authority Chitera in Chiradzulu District.

He obtained his MSCE certificate at Namitete secondary school in 2009. Then enrolled at Skyway University where he got his journalism ABMA certificate. He obtained ABMA Diploma in journalism in 2014 at Blantyre Institute of Management (BIM). His hobbies are singing, reading books and traveling.
