Malawian police are currently looking for an operations manager at NBS Bank’s Zomba Branch for stealing K47 million.
It is reported that the suspect, Gift Nafere is the second in charge of the branch.
On Sunday, Nafere did not report for duties and the following day on Monday, his colleagues tried to call him but his phone could not be reached.
The colleagues also noticed that the suspect had left several Whatsapp groups. Reports also say he had disconnected all the computer systems on CCTV and the backdoor used by the staff members.
The Branch manager called the suspect’s wife and she said her husband had called her on Saturday and told her he was going to an African doctor in Mulanje with his sick uncle.
The bank has since offered K100.000 to anyone willing to give information that will lead to his arrest.
