Kuwani Quashes Breakfast Prayers, ‘Not Relevant’

Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD) leader Peter Kuwani has described breakfast prayers as ‘not relevant.’

In his remarks Kuwani said the prayers that took place at state house today does not have any value compared to the ones organized by Public Affair Committee (PAC).

He added that the churches that organized the prayers are not worthwhile, as PAC is recognized because of its credibility.

“As far as I respect the freedom of worship, some of the churches organizing the prayers are not worthwhile. PAC is recognized for its credibility,” said Kuwani.

Different members of the clergy organized the prayers for the presidential candidates of which President Peter Mutharika was not in attendance.

Mustapha Hussein a political scientist hailed the presidential candidates for shunning away from the presidential prayers.

Emily Mkamanga agreed with Hussein and Kuwani saying the state house prayer session was not relevant.

“The other parties are justified by not attending the prayers and when you look at the relevance we see that it is not relevant,” Mkamanga said.

She added that PAC’s meeting was more important as it was promoting peace before during and after elections.

“PAC also held their prayers which discussed more important issues such as the peace signing where the president himself was supposed to attend,” she said.

Mutharika who shunned the prayers organized by PAC said he is not a man who can be forced to sign a treaty by anyone. 104.544��Uu�1<
