Chakwera sworn-in as Member of Parliament for Lilongwe North West Constituency

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chawera has been sworn-in as Member of Parliament for Lilongwe North West Constituency.

The ceremony is taking place at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe and the ceremony is being presided over by Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda S.C.

Amongst those sworn in today are former Speaker of the National Assembly Henry Chimunthu Banda, former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje,Mike Bango, former Minister of Homeland Security Nicholas Dausi just to mention a few.

The swearing-in ceremony will continue tomorrow at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe and will be followed by the election of new Speaker of Parliament and his deputies.

Chakwera is challenging elections results in court.
