HRDC Refute Claims to be working with Opposition Parties

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is trashing assertions that it is working on behalf of opposition political parties to hold demonstrations.

The planned nationwide demonstrations are slated for June 20, and are meant to force the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah to resign.

There are reports that opposition politicians are using the HRDC to put forward the agenda of demonstrations.

Malawi Congress Party supporters have also been holding peaceful demonstrations to show displeasure with presidential election results.
