Malawi Airlines apologizes for flight disruptions

Malawi Airlines sincerely has apologized to customer for flight disruptions experienced in the past few days due to bad weather.

Malawi Airlines issued the apology in a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer Hailemelekot Mamo released on Thursday made available to faceofmalawi.

“Following closure of Chileka International Airport in Blantyre for jet operations from 24th April, 2019, we employed use of extra Bombardier Q400 aircraft to operate the Blantyre – Johannesburg route on daily basis.

“This operation went on well until the month of May, 2019. However, daylight serving changes for Malawi and the unpredictable bad seasonal weather restricting daytime operations to 5:30pm at Chileka have proved to be a challenge for our schedule. As a result, we are experiencing frequent diversions via Lilongwe to cope with time,” reads in part the statement.

According to Mamo, the diversions have also affected the Lilongwe operation as it has to wait for connecting passengers from/to Blantyre.

“Ideally, every change effected by Malawi Airlines is set to prompt you our customer on your email or mobile phone using short message system (SMS). This happens when the address is fully inserted on the reservation record. We would like to call upon you our customer to prompt the travel agent to update email and phone number (country code, area code, phone number) on booking record. Same is already being circulated to all agents to comply,” said Mamo.

Mamo said the company is doing everything to ensure undisrupted flight schedule to all our destinations.
