MEETS Vows to Fight Against Environmental Degradation

Celebrating 20 years in financing environmental projects, the Malawi Environmental and Endowment Trust (MEET) says the fight against environmental degradation requires multi-sectoral coordination.

MEET Coordinator Karen Price said this on Saturday during commemoration of World Environmental Day in Mulanje, saying they are proud to have financed 20 environmental projects in the past 20 years.

“MEET will continue financing the projects but we need to join hands in fighting against environmental degradation,” said Price.

Director of environment in the Ministry of Natural Resources Energy and Mining, Taonga Mbale Luka, said with environmental legal framework in place, the country is making progress in fighting against environmental degradation.

This year, the World Environmental Day is commemorated under the theme “Stop pollution; save lives.”
