Frank Mwenefumbo loses May 21 polls case

Former MP for Karonga Central Constituency, who was also UDF runningmate in the May 21 Tripartite Elections, Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo, has lost a case in which he challenged the new MP for the constituency, Cornelius Mwalwanda.

Judge Thomson Ligowe, in his ruling, said Mwenefumbo has failed to present evidence and prove that there were irregularities during the elections in the constituency.

Mwenefumbo said in an interview that he has accepted the determination and has since asked his supporters to accept the ruling.

This comes barely a month after High Court Judge, Kenyatta Nyirenda, also dismissed Tay Grin’s application to nullify election results for Lilongwe City Centre Constituency.

Tay Grin, whose real name is Limbani Kalilani, lost elections in the constituency to Alfred Jiya of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
