POLICE ARRESTS MIN BUS DRIVER FOR MURDER OF TWO WOMEN

Two sex-workers were killed by  min bus driver Christopher Malango in Blantyre, Chiwembe township, on separate occasions.

Limbe CID officers on August 13, 2019, had a break- through, when they cornered Christopher Malango aged 24 in connection to the murder.

According to Limbe police deputy PRO Sub/Insp Widson Nhlane revealed that in the month of July, Limbe police, recorded two murder cases of sex-workers, whose bodies were found dumped at Chiwembe and Kanjedza forest stream.

“Seven others were just attacked, rapped and robbed of their items such as cash, cosmetics and cellphones.Upon receipt of these reports, the detectives, immediately lunched a man hunt and it was established that the one doing that, was using a min bus Nissan caravan Registration number NU 966.

He used to pick ladies at night in places of Kachere, Kamba and Yiannakis roundabout on pretence of having sex with them.Later, he had to drive to unknown places, where they were beaten, raped and robbed of their belongings.” Nhlane narrated

“After his arrest, the suspect led the officers to Chiwembe housing area where the stolen items were found hidden including the clothes of the deceased whose body was found at Chiwembe.Police appreciates, the cordial working relationship with members of the community in fighting crime and urges themto continue giving tip-offs on suspected criminals causing terror in our locations.” Nhlane added

Christopher Malango who hails from Thunga village in Traditional Authority Bvumbwe Thyolo, will appear in court soon to answer charges of Murder, Robbery with violence and Rape.
