Tanzania To Publish Names of Married Men On State Website

The regional administration of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, is planning to publish all the names of married men on the state website to protect single women from being preyed on sexually.

According to the Dar es salaam’s regional commissioner Paul Makonda, single women have been presenting complaints of being ditched by married men, who had even given them empty marriage promises.

“I have received a lot of complaints from young women. Many women from the Dar es Salaam region have been deceived many times, and they have had enough. Men have been promising to marry them, then later, they [men] ditch the ladies. This is something that is humiliating,” Said Makonda.

The Dar es Salaam regional commissioner and other top administrators said that they are going to enact the laws that protect women rights, especially those that have been promised marriages by young men.

“One of the ideas that we have is to have all the married people register their marital statuses with the region’s database agency. This will help young women promised marriages. It would be easy for them to access the database and find out whether the men who have promised to marry them are people’s husbands or not. In that database, all the marriages, including Christian, customary, Muslim, those filed at the registrar of marriages, will be registered,” said the administrators.

Married men have successfully conned single women in the name of love and marriages but in the end, leaving the women to nurse bruises from emotional heartbreaks.

Paul Makonda made a promise to all the single women who have gone through the heartbreaks that he will ensure necessary action is taken against the men and that sanity is brought in relationships.

Mr. Makonda said the administration is planning to meet the State agency in charge of the citizens’ database. He promised to go after all men who have lured single women into sexual acts, in the name of marrying them.

Dar es salaam women will be able to log in to the database and know whether a man who is promising to marry them is already registered or not. If the man in question is registered, the woman is supposed to report to the authority for proper action to be taken.
