Organizers of Anti-Ansah demonstrations Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has distanced themselves from the harassment of Journalists during Wednesday demonstrations in Lilongwe.
The Journalists Golden Matonga of Nation Publications limited and Gladys Nthenda of Kulinji were assaulted by demonstrators when they were caught hosting the demonstrations on camera.
In a statement released by the coalition signed by HRDC chairperson Timothy Mtambo described as hooligans masquerading as protesters.
HRDC has been holding demonstrations to force Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Justice Jane Ansah to step down, saying the commission mismanaged May 21 tripartite elections results.
