ICBM to Hold its First Ever Graduation Weds-Day at COMESA

By Robert Kumwenda and Orchestra Kamanga

International College of Business and Management (ICBM) in Malawi is to hold its first ever graduation ceremony at COMESA Hall in Blantyre.

According to Khwimani Kasambara who is Deputy Director of Academics for the college, this is the first time for the college to hold a graduation ceremony since its establishment in the year 2002 as a business oriented institution.

Kasambara said the college is accredited by TEVETA and now they have applied for the Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to accredit the college so that it should start offering Degree programs.

“The coming of NCHE is to appreciate our facilities and systems which support delivery of academics of programs. The College has experienced and highly qualified lecturers who have studied both locally and internationally,” he said.

He further said some of the graduates from the institution are working in different high ranking positions in government and in the private sector.

Concurring with Kasambara, Manaf Katonga Director of Academics for the institution said the college is the best when it comes to all boards of exams saying that the passing rate is from eighty to hundred percent but they do not make noise.

He said the best student of January to June exams in ICAM under CIFA was from the college, his name is Osman Khamisa and no one failed in banking exams from the college both in Diploma and Advanced Diploma.

Katonga said despite its success, the college  still face some challenges over some people’ perception thinking that it is only for Muslims.

“We have a combination of different religions and our teaching staff is combinational of both Muslims and Christians. Our courses are not compulsory but are based on choice,” he said.

The graduation ceremony will be held under the theme “Cerebrating success and rewarding hard work” and Professor Samson Sajidu, vice Principal for Chancellor College will be the guest of honor.

Some of the courses that the college offers are Business Management, Marketing Management, Computer Systems Engineering ABMA, Banking IOB MW and Financial Accounting (ICAMMW).
