President Peter Mutharika has assured people of Nsanje district that Nsanje Inland Port project will carry on once his government will receive a go ahead by the Mozambican government.
Mutharika said this on Sunday during a thank you rally to the people of Nsanje for trusting him with their votes.
He said discussions are underway with Mozambican government.
Mutharika continued by telling the people that funds for the project are available that people from Nsanje should wait for the smooth discussion currently underway.
“I am aware many people are still asking as how far is the Nsanje Inland Project. My answer is we are still discussing with our friends in Mozambique. Once they agree with us, the construction will start,” President Mutharika pointed out.
Nsanje Inland Port is a brain child of the late president Professor Bingu Wa Mutharika, which was later on neglected by President Joyce Banda during her two term in office.
Since 2014 Mutharika has been singing the same song in the same tune but nothing has been done.
