Ntcheu Couple Found Dead in House (Photos)

A young couple in Ntcheu has been found lying dead with stab wounds at the woman’s place on Wednesday.

Ntcheu police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu has identified the man as 27-year-old Belief Banda and the woman as 24-year-old Esther Kaputa who was a teacher at Njolomole Community Day Secondary school.

According to Chigalu, it is believed that the man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death then himself over reasons that the woman had ended their love affair.

“Some two months ago, the lady had ended their affair over reasons best known to themselves and when this happened, the boyfriend left Ntcheu for Lilongwe only to return last Sunday, September 22,” said Chigalu.

Chigalu said Banda tried to talk with Kaputa to settle down their differences but this did not work and he again left for Lilongwe and returned on Tuesday, 24th September.

“Upon arrival, Banda proceeded to Kaputa’s house where the two spent a night together”

The next morning, Kaputa’s young brother who was also living in the same house woke up to prepare himself for school. He called his sister to get and prepare for work but it was Banda who replied that she is sick and she was not going to work.

“At around 2pm, Kaputa’s brother returned from school, however he found the main door locked from inside and no one answered when he knocked. He then hooked the key from the inside and managed to enter the house but he was shocked to have found the couple lying dead in a pool full of blood,” Chigalu said.

Authorities visited the scene and the bodies were taken to Ntcheu District Hospital where postmortem results are yet to be released.

Esther Kaputa, hailed from Chipula Village, Traditional Authority Simlemba, Kasungu whilst her boyfriend, Belief Banda, hailed from Ngalande Village, Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu
