Speaker kicks out DPP MP in Parliament

Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara on Friday morning kicked out Member of Parliament for Thyolo East Mausauko White because of wearing a traditional jacket.

This was noted when MP for Dowa East Richard Chimwendo observed the member’s dress code.

In her reaction, Hara said this was against the rules of the National Assembly which state that the official dress code of the house for members should be a round suit, a pair of long trousers, a tie and a jacket, ruling him out of order.

Hara sent him out to dress appropriately.
