BODY OF AN ADULT FOUND IN FREEZER DURING POLICE INVESTIGATION OF AN ARSON.

Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a freezer at a home in Missouri on Tuesday.

Officers in Joplin learned of the body Monday while investigating an arson case at a neighboring property.

Authorities have not released the identity of the man, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

It is not known how the arson investigation and the discovery of the body are linked and police did not respond to questions from the DailyMail.com.

Police said in a statement Tuesday that they are still investigating the cause of death. An autopsy has been ordered.

The said ‘investigators were conducting a neighborhood canvass in reference to an arson investigation’ that took place at one address.

Police added: ‘During the neighborhood canvass information was developed on an unrelated case.

‘Information was brought forward that a deceased person was inside a neighboring residence.’

‘The search located a deceased adult male in a freezer inside the residence.’

In July a St Louis man discovered a baby’s corpse in a box in the freezer while clearing his late mother’s home.

Adam Smith says his mother Barbara avoided answering his questions for decades about what was stashed away in the container including after he moved into her apartment when she was diagnosed with cancer.

After her passing, Smith finally investigated what he thought might be cash, and was shocked to find the corpse of a baby.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed they were investigating the discovery.
