Hardcore ex-con arrested for robbery

Lingadzi Police in Lilongwe is keeping in custody a notorious ex-convict, Yusuf Imedi, who was arrested Wednesday for alleged robbery with violence.

Imedi was released from Zomba maximum prison in April this year after serving a nine year jail term for the same offence.

According to Publicist for Lingadzi Police, Salome Zgambo, imedi terrorised places like area 43, Area10, Area 49 and Area 36 where he robbed various items worth millions.

“Intelligence corrected by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for Lingadzi police shows that Imedi was the gang leader of robbers hitting lingadzi policing area and other areas,” explained Zgambo.

She said on the day of his arrest, police went to Chinsapo for intelligence collection and on their way they received information through informants who had spotted him drinking at Chitedze.

“That’s when police went in swiftly and arrested him,”

She added; “During interrogation, he admitted to leading a gang of a group that has been terrorising these areas and he went as far as taking police to five (5) different places where he recently hit and he demonstrated how he managed to break into those houses.”

Yusufu Imedi 27 years, hails from Milala village traditional authority Kambwiri in Salima district and he will appear in court as soon as police are done with Investigations to answer a charge of robbery with violence contrary to Section 301(2) of the Penal Code.
