MDF soldier Robert Banya short dead for resisting arrest

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier, Robert Banya, who was at large after allegedly killing two fellow soldiers, was shot dead on Saturday in Ntcheu District.

Malawi Defence Force Spokesperson Major Paul Chiphwanya confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Chiphwanya, Banya was shot dead on Saturday night by a team of MDF soldiers who were assigned to hunt for the suspected assailant.

Banya was confirmed dead upon arrival at Ntcheu District Hospital.

Friday evening, Banya shot dead Corporal Keston Mtambo and Corporal Gift Magombo, both MDF soldiers working on Tsangano-Neno-Mwanza road in Ntcheu.
