Mutharika’s witness Ben Phiri to start testifying in Court on Friday

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ben Phiri will from Friday start presenting his evidence backing President Peter Mutharika’s interest in the ongoing Presidential polls case.

This follows the raping up of Second petition, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) parading witnesses in the presidential polls.

MCP finished parading its witnesses with Daud Suleman who demonstrated how the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) rigged the election in favour of President Peter Mutharika.

According to information at hand, the first respondent will only parade two witnesses namely Bob Chimkango and Ben Phiri.

Mutharika through his lead lawyer on Wednesday withdrawn 68 witnesses out of 70 witnesses that it brought to court.

Initially Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) planned to parade 243 witnesses before presiding judges ordered them to trim the number to 70.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to Friday morning.
