Uladi’s cross examination in passport-gate starts

Former Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Uladi Mussa who is also Vice President for ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Central Region is in court dock testing in the case in which he is being accused of awarding citizenship to foreign nationals.

Mussa was arrested together with Immigration Officer David Kwanjana and two others in 2017 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Last month, the court found Mussa, former President Peter Mutharika’s Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs and DPP Vice President for Central Region alongside Immigration Officer David Kwanjana and two others with cases to answer on offences committed when he was minister.

The court started hearing the case yesterday.

Lead lawyer representing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Kamudoni Nyasulu, is cross-examining Mussa.

Mussa and others were found with cases to answer on issues pertaining issuing of citizenship to foreign nationals.

Mussa maintains in his answers that the directive to issue such came from the Principle Secretary (PS).

Mussa also maintains all procedures to issue the citizenships to some Rwandees were followed.

He said he got everything from the PS and that no shortcut was used.
