So you are planning to take an egg for either breakfast or lunch and since it has stayed in the refrigerator for long, you don’t know whether it is still good or bad.

This position is where most people that eat eggs find themselves into on a daily basis.

However, when it comes to determining whether an egg is bad or not, here are ways that can help you know;

1. Sink it

One can know whether an egg is good or bad by sinking it in a glass or bowl full of water. If the egg sinks and lay flat on the glass/bowl bottom, then know that it is good. However, if it happens that the egg floats, then know that it is bad and should not be eaten.

2. Shake it

Shaking an egg close to the ear is also another way of knowing whether it is good or bad. If one hears a liquid swishing around inside the egg, then know that it is bad.

3. Sniff it out

After breaking an egg, it is supposed to have a neutral smell. However, if it happens that it produces an odour or a distinct smell similar to Sulphur then you should toss it.
