14 vehicles carrying protesters detained at Njewa

The Malawi Police Service in Njewa has detained 14 vehicles that were carrying people to join the demonstrations in Lilongwe.

According to information sourced from the police and made available by HRDC leader Timothy Mtambo, the vehicles had no Certificate of Fitness and they were using both lanes without permission from the police.

At the moment, the protestors are holding a vigil at Kamuzu Central Hospital roundabout demanding the police to release the people.

Mtambo has since asked MDF to go to Njewa police and force for the release of their colleagues.

He has threatened that the demonstrators will not leave KCH roundabout until those in Njewa are released.
