Speaking in an interview, General Manager for the company Bobby Singh said the year 2019 was not good because maize and tobacco prices was at lower prices which made farmers not to make profits.

“As Opticheme we failed to make profits due to some challenges which include cyclone Idai, political impasse which negatively impacted on country’s economy’” he said.

He further said crop price was very low which made farmers not to make more profits hence affected country’s economy.

“Another challenge for 2019 was that tobacco demand from outside was low because there were campaigns lobbying people to stop smoking,” said Singh.

The company produces fertilizer for tobacco, Maize, Macadamia and has branches in Zomba, Lilongwe while Headquarters is located in Malawi’ commercial city, Blantyre.
