Mpinganjira was arrested on Wednesday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on allegations that he attempted to bribe Judges handling the Presidential polls case and was expected to appear in court on Thursday morning.

But at midnight Mpinganjira was granted bail by the Zomba Magistrate Court at midnight. The court also quashed the summon by ACB attracting mixed reactions among Malawians.

“Let us resolve to welcome the ruling with open arms as a foundation on which we can begin the work of rebuilding our nation and reconciling with each other. After all, we have no other nation to call our home than Malawi and no other people to call our own than each other. And I, for one, would never trade it for any other on earth,” said Chakwera.

Chakwera also condemned raping of women at Msundwe by the law enforcers.
