Muslim Supreme Council to Demonstrate Over the Killing of Muslim Police Officer at Msundwe

The Muslim Supreme Council of Malawi has organized demonstrations over the killing of a Muslim Police officer Usumani Imedi at Msundwe.

The publicity Secretary for Muslim Supreme Council Muli Bwanali confirmed the news of their planned protest.

According to Bwanali the march will start at Liwonde and they are expecting to present the petition to Machinga District Commissioner.

Bwanali has however accused Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) leadership for being selective in its activism saying the grouping did not hold a demonstration against the killing of the police officer.

In their response, HRDC said they would have joined the protests if they ha received a communication earlier.

Imedi was stoned to death by mob in Msundwe during running battles between police and the angry mob earlier last year in October.

The mob was protesting against a decision by President Peter Mutharika to hold a rally in Lilongwe.
