Teenager commits suicide after mom scolds him over hairstyle

A 16-year-old committed suicide at Valasaravakkam in Chennai on Sunday after his mother scolded him over his hairstyle.

The deceased was identified as Srinivasan, Class 12 student who hanged himself in his bedroom while he was alone at his home.

The police officials investigating the matter told media houses that the boy had been growing his fair for more than three months and had refused to cut it short, despite his mother’s regular objection over the same.

According to a reports, the boy refused to obey his mother while his father tried to resolve the fights between his son and wife but all efforts went in vain. On Sunday morning, there was a verbal spat over the same issue between Srinivasan and his mother and he took the extreme step later in the day.

Reportedly, his body has been sent to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for a postmortem. The police have registered a case in the matter and further probe in the matter is underway.
