Don’t let your Mum choose your wife, Diamond Platnumz’s father tells him

TANZANIA – The father to Tanzanian hitmaker Diamond Platnumz, Abdul Juma wants the Bongo Flava artist and to get married and settle down.

Responding to allegations that Diamond’s mother and sister have a hand in selecting a spouse for Diamond, Abdul Juma said that Diamond should voluntarily choose a woman of his choice and settle down once and for all.

“Siwezi kumchagulia mwanangu mwanamke wa kumuoa kwa kuwa ana maamuzi yake, hivyo namshauri aoe mwanamke anayemtaka, asikubali kuchaguliwa na mtu awe baba au mama yake maana atakuja kujuta baadaye,’’ Juma said.

According to word on the street, Sanura ‘Sandra’ Kassim, Diamond’s mother has a strong influence on her son’s decisions, including those relating to who he dates and interacts with.

In an exclusive interview with Global Publishers then, Sanura explained the whole drama started on the night of May 13, 2018, after attending Mbosso’s concert.

“Hayo mambo ya mzazi mwenzie ni huko, pale Madale ni kwangu na simtaki nyumbani kwangu kabisa. Alipokuja kiwizi usiku ule na kulala nyumbani kwangu, alipaswa kuondoka kabla sijamuona. Kwa nini alisubiri mimi nimkute maana siku hiyo asubuhi yake nilitoka na nilivyorudi ndipo nikamkuta? Mimi nilimsubiri tu getini na nilishajiapiza lazima nimpige,” Sanura said.

She added that Diamond was the one who saved Hamisa from the beatings.

“Yupo na yeye ndiyo alimsaidia kumuamulia mimi nikabaki na wigi la sivyo, ingekuwa shida. Alikimbia na viatu mkononi, maana nilikuwa nimeshavitupa nje ya nyumba yangu.”

Interestingly, later that year Sanura came out to dismiss claims that she has rights to pick a wife for her superstar son.

“I cannot choose a lifetime partner for Diamond. That is his obligation. I have heard some people advising him to marry Zari (Hassan). I won’t encourage or discourage him from doing that. When the two met and started their relationship (in November 2014) and even went ahead to get (two) children together, she told Tanzania’s Risasi Vibes in 2018.

Late last year, she revealed that her son is yet to marry because it is not yet God’s time for him.

In a video shared online, Mama Dangote said Diamond will marry when God’s time comes.

“Time has not come; everything happens as per God’s plans. When the time comes, they will marry, it is not their wish, it is God who plans.”
