Malawian beloved singer Emmie Deebo has sparked debate on social media after posting a heartfelt apology to people she may have offended, particularly fellow female artists.

In a message shared on her Facebook page over the weekend, the multi award-winning artist wrote: “Lero mwapadela dela, I want to sincerely apologise to everyone amene ndinamulakwilapo, especially my fellow FEMALE Artists. I know some of my words were painful and disappointing, and I deeply regret my actions. I really want to start afresh in this life and let me start by kupepesa. Please ndinebe your little Sister Emmie.”

While the singer did not specify what prompted the apology, the post quickly attracted attention from fans, many of whom began speculating whether there are fellow artists she may have offended or is attempting to reconcile with.

The apology has also revived discussions about some of Emmie Deebo’s previous comments regarding her place in Malawi’s music industry. Earlier this year, the singer drew mixed reactions after expressing frustration at being compared to other female artists.

At the time, she argued that the level she had reached in her career placed her in competition with some of the country’s biggest male artists rather than female musicians.

Her remarks sparked widespread debate, with supporters praising her confidence and achievements, while critics viewed the comments as dismissive of her female counterparts.

Emmie Deebo has often been credited as one of the few female artists in Malawi to openly challenge the industry’s traditional divisions by positioning herself alongside top male performers such as Driemo, Eli Njuchi, and Kell Kay.

For now, the singer has not provided further details about the apology, leaving fans and followers wondering what may have inspired the unexpected message.

Believing the request to be genuine, the shop manager released the materials after recognizing the name of an RBM official based in Mzuzu, without verifying the claim.
