While Benson Sango sits in detention at Maula Prison, the funeral of his uncle, Elede Mpungu, takes place.
Vintanga Kalidze, 21, who was detained for five months without bail for disturbing the peace, stands with his wife Fryness, 24, and daughter Ivy, 3, in Kulidzele, Malawi.
Benson Sango, 21, has been held in Maula Prison for 28 months without a trial and suffers from scabies as a result of the conditions at the prison.

 

V.H. Nsinda takes a pause while working her fields without the usual help of her grandson Benson Sango, who has been detained in Maula Prison for 28 months without seeing a lawyer or having a trial.

 

Villagers come out to honor the death of Elede Mpungu, 70. Mpungu is the uncle of Benson Sango who has been detained at Maula Prison for 28 months without bail or a trial. The dancing and festivities mark the importance of this man and if Benson had been free he would have had an important role in the day's events.

 

The funeral of Elede Mpungu takes place.
