Fugitive and murder suspect Misozi Chanthunya has appealed against his extradition to Malawi where he is wanted to answer murder charges of Zimbabwean Linda Gasa.
The grounds of the appeal have not yet been known as the lawyers who represented the state in South Africa have not been furnished with court documents on the matter, according to the Ministry of Justice spokesperson Apoche Itimu
But reports indicate that Chanthunya is appealing against the South African Court’s ruling on Monday, because he fears that he will be executed.
He is accused of murdering Gasa and burying her body under a bathtub at his cottage in Mangochi district in 2010.
After the incident, Chanthunya had been hiding in South Africa until he was arrested by INTERPOL on January 23 this year.
His extradition ruling was delayed due to legal complications of the process, according to Itimu.
