MESN organizes conference on tripartite elections

Representatives of the Malawi Electoral Support Network(MESN) have organized a national conference to discuss the possibility of the country holding tripartite elections in 2014.

MESN publicity secretary Steven Duwa said his organization is not going to compromise the holding of local government elections in the country.

Duwa said the forthcoming national conference which its date will be announced soon, will draw a road map to the tripartite elections in 2014.

The development follows a recent announcement from the legal affairs committee which doubted that the country is not ready to hold the elections in 2014 and proposed that it should be held in 2015.

Malawi has run without councilors since 2004, a move which electoral stakeholders say has greatly affected the implementation of various projects across the country.
