Soldier Lucius Banda goes back on stage this week

Zembani Band this weekend welcomes back their father and founder, Soldier Lucius Banda, who was hospitalised in South Africa last week.

Adverts by the band show that the ‘Soldier of the poor” will accompany them to Riverside in Salima on Friday, Rhino Club at Mponela Saturday night and his Zembani Lodge in Balaka on Sunday.

In an interview on Wednesday, Banda said the shows are part of the recuperation trip from the heart ailment which forced him to cancel shows at a wedding in South Africa and the dinner Malawi President Joyce Banda hosted for her Nigerian counterpart Goodluck Jonathan last week.

“Definitely, I will be performing with the group. I need this type of activity to keep myself healthy. Actually, doctors in South Africa advised me to be active,” said the Life hitmaker, describing himself as “overweight”.

To supplement the efforts, he disclosed, he has scrapped off meat from his diet and gone back to his home gym which was abandoned due to the pressure music exerts on his diary.

“I have had this set of gym equipment for five years, but due to my busy music schedule, I could hardly find time for a work out. Ever since I returned from South Africa, I have intensified my exercises and my diet is strictly vegetables and fruits. I now go to the gym almost every morning and evening,” he said on Wednesday.

The weekend tour, dubbed “Welcome Back”, offers people a chance to jiving to the good health of the artist who mentored the likes of Billy Kaunda, Mlaka Maliro and Charles Nsaku.
