Why JB dropped Cassim Chilumpha from cabinet

People’s Party Vice President Cassim Chilumpha was dropped from cabinet recently because he has proven to be useless since he got elected to the position in September.

According to sources in PP, Chilumpha stopped being accessible immediately after he got the vice presidency of the party, as if he had joined the party just to get a position.

The sources said Chilumpha changes his telephone numbers all the time making it difficult to find him. Those who have worked with him before in other places, say hiding numbers is Chilumpha’s habit.

Of the three PP vice presidents namely Khumbo Kachali and Sidik Mia, only Chilumpha has not contributed anything to the party either in cash or kind.

Recently people have seen Joyce Banda using Uladi Mussa, who Chilumpha defeated at the PP convention in the veep contest, to speak at her rallies.

Mussa does not hold any position in PP

Sources say Joyce Banda wants to frustrate Chilumpha so that when he resigns, Uladi Mussa should take over.

Mussa is a Muslim and comes from Salima, a lakeshore district like Nkhotakota where Chilumpha comes from.
