Humphrey Mvula in trouble over swindling JB

Former United Democratic Front (UDF) director of research Humphrey Chimphando Mvula has found himself in trouble with his newly found political grouping, the Peoples Party (PP) after allegedly pocketing over K5 million from President Joyce Mtila Banda for some party activities that were never fulfilled.

According to impeccable sources inside the state house, Mvula, a self acclaimed political strategist about mid last year drew up a party proposal where as a result he received about K5 million from President Banda. However, over three months after the cash was handed over to the ‘strategist’ there was nothing to show the State President. The President was reported infuriated by this behaviour by Mvula. She is reported to have told her inner circle (including our source) that she was not amused with how Mvula used the K5 million.

Our state house source disclosed that the money was to ‘buy-off’ some secret party documents for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The money was to also be used to bribe some senior DPP officials to reveal some of the party’s secrets to the PP through Mvula. Our sources say that in PP, Mvula is working with the Presidential Advisor on Policy and Strategy Shyly Kondowe. It is reported that the duo of Mvula and Kondowe are the ones that advised the State President to appoint the Vice President as Minister responsible for MEC.

It is reported the idea later was sold to Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara and the Vice President Khumbo Kachali himself.

Humphrey Mvula, dumped the UDF last year. Ever since, he has been working under ground with the PP as a political strategist. During the UDF era, former President Bakili Muluzi used Mvula to buy off opposition Members of Parliament in order strengthen up the government side in the National Assembly. Recently, Mvula has appeared on the state broadcaster MBC TV speaking against the planned January 17th nationwide demonstrations led by the Consumer Association of Malawi.
