Lilongwe Magistrate Court has this morning acquitted freelance journalist Justice Mponda after the Malawi Government failed to bring evidence that he was the one who had been stories insulting President Joyce Banda on Malawi Voice.
The court acquitted the journalist after all the three state witnesses Reverend Malani Mtonga, It expert Jere and deputy CID failed to turn up at the court to testify against the journalist for the fifth time.
Mponda was arrested on 15 October last year when about 10 heavily armed police officers in two land cruisers stormed his Chiwembe residence.
