Incapability to utilize water resources affecting agro-production – JB

President Dr Joyce Banda says the country has been incapable of utilizing water resources successfully, saying as a result agricultural production has been low.
President Dr Banda made the remarks yesterday during the official launch of Malosa, Nkando, Nsanama and Ntaja water supply project held in Zomba district.
She said water is one of the components that drive the economy of the country, saying any society cannot achieve meaningful development without water.
Dr Banda said it is with this background that government has initiated the water development program with an aim of alleviating poverty among Malawians especially women.
She added that the newly launched programme will go a long way in helping the nation to attain millennium Development goals in the water and sanitation sector by 2015.
The president also said this will help communities to have access to pure and portable water in their localities
